Partnership Accord affirms significant action on First Nations health disparities in Northern BC
COAST SALISH TERRITORY (Vancouver, BC) – The Northern Regional Health Caucus, interim First Nations Health Authority and Northern Health have announced signing of the historic Northern Partnership Accord that opens new doors for cooperation and planning to improve health outcomes for Northern First Nations. The Accord lays the groundwork for innovations in health service delivery and the creation of a more integrated, culturally appropriate, safe, and effective health system.
“The Northern Partnership Accord is a forward-thinking document that we will see in the future as a turning point in the creation of a more effective health service delivery system for First Nations in Northern BC,” said Warner Adam of the Northern Regional Health Caucus. “The mutual cooperation and willingness to work together between partners with the goal of improving the lives of our First Nations communities made this Accord a success.”

COAST SALISH TERRITORY (Vancouver, BC) - The Vancouver Coastal Regional Caucus, interim First Nations Health Authority, and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) have announced signing of the historic Vancouver Coastal Partnership Accord creating a new path to improving health outcomes, programs, and services for First Nations in the Vancouver Coastal region.
“This marks the beginning for us to improve services, foster meaningful collaboration and partnership through Community-Driven Nation-Based engagement, and increase First Nation involvement in decision making,” said Ernest Armann of the Vancouver Coastal Regional Caucus. “I am excited the Partnership Accord has been reached and I look forward to an evolving and enduring partnership in support of First Nations health and wellness in the Vancouver Coastal Region.”

Accord offers integrated, culturally competent and effective First Nations health plan
COAST SALISH TERRITORY (Vancouver, BC) - The Vancouver Island Regional Health Caucus of the First Nations Health Council and Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) have announced signing of the Vancouver Island Partnership Accord, signifying the strength of the working relationship in support of health improvements for Island First Nations and all Island residents. The signing took place on the evening of May 14, 2012 in a cultural ceremony during the fifth annual provincial Gathering Wisdom for a Shared Journey forum.
“This is a very important moment for Vancouver Island First Nations partnering with VIHA to provide improved health outcomes for our people,” said Cliff Atleo of the Vancouver Island Regional Health Caucus. “The steps we are collectively taking as First Nations and non-First Nations together are creating new relationships, partnerships, health services, and a shift to prevention and wellness from dealing with sickness only. When we work together we find that we can overcome any adversity and are all stronger.”
